I find that there’s no better way to start the day that with a glass of lukewarm water with the juice of half a lemon in it. No only does this get the digestive system going but it is also help to alkalise your body ready for the day (you might be wondering how lemons are alkalising when they are acid – it’s because they are low in sugars so they don’t create a lot of acid in the body after digestion).
Try to drink the lemon water as soon as you rise and a good 20 minutes before you first eat to get the full alkalising effect.
For variety, lime juice can be substituted for lemon and it stops you getting bored with the same taste day in, day out!

Think about the words that you use on a regular basis (both internally to yourself and externally in what you say to others). Are they positive or negative?
For example, do you say:
“The weather is horrible.”
or
“The weather is cold and wet.”
Do you say:
“That person is a nasty person.”
or
“That person did X, Y and Z.”
Notice how with just a few words you can make yourself feel worse about something that the situation dictates. The best way with anything is to see it as it is, no worse but there are people who not only do the opposite, but do it about things that they have no control over (such as other people, the weather and so on). Not only that, but when you use negative words and phrases with others, you are transferring some of your negativity about the situation onto others.
Most people want to feel better, and if that’s your goal then a good place to start is by “thinking better”. I’m not suggesting that you completely eliminate all negative thoughts and feelings, just to try to put a brake on doing it unconsciously.
What’s the best way to do that? The best way is to notice that you are doing it. Sounds simple and it is but that alone will help you to think better and, as a direct result of that, feel better.
Think about your thinking!

Feeling down? Feeling depressed? Feeling frustrated? Feeling angry?
You can change how you feel almost instantly by changing your state! Problem is, many people find it really difficult to change their state because they’re made a habit out of feeling disempowering feelings.
But there is a way to change how you feel and change quickly – through music. Think about it, is there a piece of music that makes you feel happy, euphoric, excited or empowered? Chances are that you can identify a stack of tracks that can change your state (and if you can’t think of any music then it’s time to go through you music collection, or failing that a movie that moves you – at worse, take a look at the ads on TV, these are loaded with music designed to move people).
Once you’ve found a few tracks that can change your state then why not give yourself the gift of a mix tape of tracks that uplift you. Label it and put it on one side until you need to change your state and feel better. And why not make a few copies of your empowering mix tape (don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be a tape, it can be a CD!) and leave one in the car, one at the office, one in your bedroom …).
Try it – this is a simple way to change your state and change how you feel.
