Start the day with a lemon water

I find that there’s no better way to start the day that with a glass of lukewarm water with the juice of half a lemon in it.  No only does this get the digestive system going but it is also help to alkalise your body ready for the day (you might be wondering how lemons are alkalising when they are acid – it’s because they are low in sugars so they don’t create a lot of acid in the body after digestion).

Try to drink the lemon water as soon as you rise and a good 20 minutes before you first eat to get the full alkalising effect.

For variety, lime juice can be substituted for lemon and it stops you getting bored with the same taste day in, day out!
